Twin : A Unique Collaboration
The artists, professionally known as "Twin," work simultaneously on the same images to produce works of art so succinct in technique and style that one cannot distinguish their work as a collaboration of two artists. Jerry and Terry Lynn, identical twins, have established a unique working relationship and collaboration that has taken them places some only dream about. They were the official artists of the 1998 Essence Music Awards and created the official poster for the 1997 Philadelphia Art Expo. In 2001, they designed the cover image for "The Flip Side of Sin," authored by Rosalyn McMillan; and, they have exhibited extensively throughout the United States, with work selected for participation in the ÒUS Art in the Embassies Program.Ó Some of their work is currently on loan to the US Embassy in Damascus, Syria.
In 2008, the Yawa Village Africa Project, Inc. (YVAP) commissioned the Twins to produce a painting, "The Village," that depicts their view of life of residents in Yawa Village, which is located in Benin, Africa. This painting was unveiled at the Benin Embassy, Washington DC, November 2008, and was featured in an art show at the Lake Arbor Foundation Center in Mitchellville, Maryland that same month. All proceeds from the sales of the prints were donated to the YVAP to continue support of the work in Yawa village. YVAP, based at Greater Mt. Nebo A.M.E. Church in Bowie, Maryland, is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization which focuses on the education, health and economic needs of the village. For detailed information on how to purchase a print of "The Village," please contact Raymond Lynn, (301) 404-4562, email: rlynn@comcast.net or visit www.yawavillageafricaproject.com
